1998 to 2004

The Resource Restoration Unit was a small team of engineering and biology professionals and technologists who supported community groups and the west coast hatcheries. This team started in the era of the Salmonid Enhancement Program. While I was in the team, we gave in-kind support to community groups that used funding from several sources to construct habitat restoration projects in the "Lower Fraser Area".

The Habitat and Enhancement Branch managed the Resource Restoration Unit alongside enforcement action related to habitat protection.

While in the Resource Restoration Unit, I supervised 19 fish habitat construction and restoration projects from design concept through tendering, construction (as Site Engineer), and maintenance, from Pemberton to Coquitlam, BC. Coordinated community groups, governments, and contractors to achieve project goals. Projects ranged from remote to urban settings, and employed both skilled labour and heavy equipment.
