Today, I had a brief chat with Jeremy Murphy, a current member of the board at Sustainability Solutions Group, to learn more about doing professional services as a worker cooperative. The community of cooperatives involves a lot more collaboration and support than I had originally imagined.

Notes

  • Choose between provincial and federal incorporation as a co-operative
  • Find at least two other people to begin incorporation process
  • Find external professional services to support operations
  • Start speaking with financial organizations early
  • Attend some BCCA gatherings to find more ideas
  • Monitor the BCCA newsletter
  • Learn from Canadian Workers Co-op Federation courses
  • Read BCCA's Cultivating Co-ops development workbook

(still organizing some other thoughts)
